Shea's Buffalo
Sheas was originally built as a movie palace, but there was a large demand to house larger Broadway shows, Pops Concerts by the Buffalo Philharmonic, and locally produced productions. A feasibility study was completed in 1993, which led to the renovation beginning in 1996.

To prepare the space for major musicals, the lobby, backstage areas, and stage all needed to grow. The complexities of building a new stage house while keeping the current stage house operating were solved by building the new stage over the existing one, and then demolishing the old stage.

The new stage house features a stage that is 50' x 145', a loading bay with room for three trucks, five star dressing rooms with toilet and shower ensuite, dressing rooms for a total of 60 people, crew areas, and a green room that will seat 75 for dinner between shows.

The stage rigging was also updated, with 82 single purchase counterweight sets. The stage lighting was also renovated, tying the existing house lights into the dimming system and providing the ability to control moving lights.
